Melanie Elsey, CHEO Legislative Liaison
LEGISLATIVE UPDATE
Melanie Elsey has a Bachelor of Science degree in elementary education and a Bachelor of Science degree in special education. After serving as a learning disabilities teacher in Ohio’s public school system, she stepped out the classroom to fulltime responsibilities at home. She and her husband, John, home educated their three children (K-12) and are now enjoying grandparenthood. Melanie has served as CHEO’s legislative liaison since 1994. In this capacity she provides analysis of pending legislation and potential changes in policy that would have an impact on home educating families. She and John, currently serve on CHEO’s Board of Directors.
In this webinar, Melanie gives updates on current legislation and other policies that affect our families, including our capacity to home educate our children. There is also a review of the education reforms sweeping the nation and reasons home educators should be paying attention to state and federal policies.

JONATHAN BRUSH
STRAIGHT TALK ABOUT COLLEGE
Today, students leave college with an average student loan debt of about $30,000. Only 53% of entering college freshmen graduate within six years, and almost half of college sophomores show no significant improvement in learning compared to when they entered college. At the end of it all, students often have no idea what they want to do with their life, and, sadly, they discover that only about half of their graduating class can even find a job. It doesn’t have to be this way! What if there were ways for your student to discover their life purpose first and then build a college education around that? What if they could earn a college degree debt-free in less than four years? What if your student could be 30% more likely to find a job upon graduation because they were spiritually mentored and prepared to pursue their God-given calling? Would you be interested in learning more?
