CHEO will provide separate sessions to help families plan and clarify their
high school as home educators.

LaNissir James: High School Educational Consultant
As an HSLDA high school consultant, LaNissir loves speaking to parents to encourage and support their homeschooling with empathetic, engaging, and practical wisdom. She says, “The joy of helping a family feel confident that they can homeschool is priceless.”
She earned her BS in journalism from the University of Maryland College Park, is Myers-Briggs Type Indicator certified, and is pursuing a master’s degree in biblical studies.
Scott Ellsworth: Scott Ellsworth Consulting and Sherpa Management Solutions
Scott Ellsworth is the Principal and Owner of Scott Ellsworth Consulting and Sherpa Management Solutions. As a contractor to Jobs for the Future, he works to more fully engage employers in developing and implementing effective apprenticeship programs and driving greater inclusion of all populations in the workforce.
Scott has also served as the Director of Business Leaders United for Workforce Partnerships (BLU), a Washington DC-based advocacy and education organization. He has over 25 years of experience in managing a variety of manufacturing firms, including as VP and General Manager of US Operations for Tipco Punch in Hamilton, Ohio.
Scott holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from the University of Louisville and an MBA from LSU-Shreveport.
Shellie Doub: Director of Recruiting for Cedarville University’s Dual Enrollment
Shellie Doub currently serves as the Director of Recruiting for Cedarville University’s Dual Enrollment program. She is also an educational consultant for UniversityReady and the owner of BlueSky Coaching LLC.
Shellie has spoken on topics related to homeschooling high school, dual enrollment, and college and career preparation at homeschool conventions across the US. She has also served as a homeschool co-op director, high school tutor, and college advisor for hundreds of dual-enrolled high school students. Shellie and her husband Steve homeschooled their five sons from kindergarten to college, and she is passionate about helping families navigate the transition from homeschool to college.

Teen Seminar Workshops
(Grades 7 – 12)
With Rebecca L. Fairbairn, M.Ed.
Topics to be covered…
Logic Games (9:00 – 11:00 a.m.)
The ability to think logically is a critical component of adulthood. Competence in thoughtful reasoning can be taught and practiced. In this seminar, students will hone their Critical Thinking Skills as they participate in fun individual, partner, and large group activities.
This seminar is available to students aged 11-18. The cost is $7 per student to cover materials, and payment can be made on-site. Time required for this workshop is 2 hours.
Study Skills ( 12:30 – 2:00 p.m.)
One of the goals of home education is creating independent learners. As students encounter more difficult curricular material in their teen years, the need for effective Study Skills becomes more essential. This workshop will cover topics such as:
* Preparing Yourself to Study
* How to Study from a Textbook
* Notetaking Methods
* Study Techniques
Students will be given the opportunity to practice what they have learned using material presented in class. This free workshop is offered to students aged 11-18. Time required for this workshop is 1.5 hours.
Pre-Registration is Required for this Teen Seminar. $7 fee/student payable on-site. Please email cheo@cheohome.org if you are interested in your student participating. Use Teen Track in subject line.
Rebecca is an Ohio licensed educator with a Gifted education endorsement. She is also a veteran homeschooler of over 20 years, graduating her last child in 2022. Rebecca is a long-time member of CHEO and HSLDA, and one of the leaders of Christian Homeschool Community Connection, a Homeschool Mothers’ support group in Lorain County, Ohio.
