Spring is a season that brings a sense of renewal and rejuvenation, both in nature and in our spiritual lives. From a Biblical perspective, spring symbolizes new life and the hope we find in Christ. Just as the earth awakens from its winter slumber, we are reminded of the resurrection and the promise of eternal life.

In the Bible, spring is often associated with new beginnings. In Isaiah 43:19, God declares, “See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” This verse captures the essence of spring in spiritual truth, where we witness the transformation of the world around us. Trees bud, flowers bloom, and animals emerge from hibernation, all reflecting the new life we have in Christ.

Scientifically, spring is a time when the earth’s axis tilts towards the sun, resulting in longer days and warmer temperatures. This change in climate begins a series of biological processes. Plants begin photosynthesis, converting sunlight into energy and producing oxygen. Animals, such as bats and squirrels, come out of hibernation, driven by the availability of food and the need to reproduce. Birds migrate back to their breeding grounds, guided by the changing length of daylight.

The emergence of new life in spring is a beautiful parallel to the spiritual rebirth we experience through faith in Christ. Just as the earth is renewed, we too are made new in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:17 reminds us, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!” This transformation is not just a physical change but a profound spiritual renewal.

As we observe the freshness and newness of spring, let us be reminded of the hope and new life we have in Christ. The season serves as a powerful metaphor for the resurrection and the promise of eternal life. Just as nature awakens and flourishes, we too can experience a renewed sense of purpose and joy in our spiritual journey.

Spring is a time to celebrate the beauty of creation and the new life we find in Christ. It is a season of hope, renewal, and transformation, both in the natural world and in our hearts. Spring is also a fantastic time to engage in scientific observation activities that highlight the season’s changes and natural phenomena. Here are some activities to consider:

  • Plant Growth Experiments: Observe how different seeds germinate and grow. You can plant bean seeds in a jar or use eggshells as planters to watch the sprouting process.
  • Color Changing Flowers: Learn how flowers absorb liquids by placing white flowers in colored water and observing the changes.
  • Pollination and Pollen Experiments: Explore how pollination works by using cotton swabs to transfer pollen between flowers.
  • Rain Cloud in a Jar: Create a model of how rain clouds form using shaving cream and colored water.
  • Tornado in a Jar: Swirl up a tornado in a jar to learn about extreme weather patterns.
  • Water Cycle in a Plastic Bag: Visualize evaporation and condensation by creating a mini water cycle in a sealed plastic bag.
  • DIY Greenhouse: Build a small greenhouse to observe how plants grow in controlled environments.
These activities not only provide hands-on learning experiences but also deepen our appreciation for the intricate processes that occur in nature during the spring season designed by our Lord.

Spring has always held a special place in my heart. As a kid, I spent countless hours in my mom’s garden, catching toads and finding worms under the rocks. These simple yet priceless memories remind me of the joy and wonder that spring brings. The garden was a place of discovery and adventure, where every turn revealed something new and exciting. These experiences not only connected me to nature but also instilled a sense of appreciation for the beauty and intricacy of God’s creation.

Whether worms and toads, or now helping to wrestle/relocate rescued alligators and snorkeling with sharks… exploring God’s incredible creation is where I often find myself! My name is Joseph Wasil, and I have been a Christian High School Biology Teacher for almost two decades now along with having worked for nearly a decade at an AZA accredited Zoo. I also lead a national creation ministry and have taught many homeschool science co-ops. One of my greatest passions is to share the truth of our Lord as Creator and Savior.

We are excited about the opportunities and adventures that lie ahead. Thank you for your support and prayers.
